Where to find Aluminum BB Gearbox these Days?

Postby ajsmcs » Thu Sep 17, 2015 7:44 am

So I'm having a hard time finding an aluminum BB gearbox that fits my needs. I'm looking for either GPM or The Toyz brand in either red anodized or silver.

Have any of you seen any of these for sale lately? All I can find are the GPM ones in green or the 3Racing ones in blue. I'm going for all red/silver, and neither of those colors would really work. (No Christmas cars. )

I'm not coming up with anything at my normal stores. In a pinch you can deanodize a part using oven cleaner. You can find tutorials on youtube.

GPM part numbers. http://www.gpmparts.com/shop/gpm-rc-par ... _1734.html

I would also write thetoyz with a list of parts and alternatives and see if they are even going to get them in stock again.

Blackstar hobbies also has some aluminum parts if you want to look around. A quick search didn't turn up any gearboxes or dt front shock towers though. http://blackstarhobbies.com/index.php?m ... ath=70_1_2

if I don`t find ,I think I`m going to mod the stock gearbox to fit ballbearings.
Because there is no way to use the bushing.

It was blue though and doesn't appear he has any at the moment.

The toyz just listed a single blue GPM box (ball bearing).

You can strip it to silver.

For anyone still in need of these, there's some blue ones on Ebay at the moment, -

They are the GPM ones, which are fine / great, and there's currently more than 10 available.
The Lord is with me, through hurdles or blessings, through blown esc's or turning a project brushless ;-)
